Biography

Jim Londos, known as "The Golden Greek," was arguably the most popular professional wrestler of the 1930s and 1940s, serving as a massive box-office draw during the Great Depression. A long-reigning World Heavyweight Champion, he was celebrated for his technical ring mastery and helped establish professional wrestling as a premier entertainment attraction in the United States. Though his peak predates the formation of the WWWF, his immense popularity in major markets like New York helped lay the foundation for the industry’s eventual growth. In 2018, he was posthumously honored for his pioneering contributions with an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame Legacy wing.
